Wishing Brand, Performance/Intervention, 20min, Paris, France, 2019.

 

It happened at the door of a famous Chanel shop in the centre of Paris. The shop is located at 31 rue Cambon, where Coco Chanel built her brand concept and reputation in the early 1920s, and it becomes a landmark of fashion for the city. We put coins on the sign of Chanel in a row outside of the shop, one by one, from different directions. Each time setting a coin, we made a wish respectively. The first performance was stopped by a male manager from Chanel after 30 seconds, while another female manager was delighted when she noticed we were doing something artistic. The second performance lasts for 20 minutes after we used all coins in our pockets and filled in the space upon the sign.
